THE ME OF TOMORROW PLANNING TOOL

INSTRUCTIONS

OWN A FRAMEWORK YOU CAN USE AND RE-USE

This exercise will tune up your planning skills.

Think of it as a warm-up exercise that will prepare you to build your own life strategy. It can set the stage for more detailed action planning.

First, get in the right frame of mind.

  • CLEAR YOUR HEAD
  • LET YOUR DREAMS FLOW
  • VISUALIZE YOURSELF IN THE FUTURE

The most significant change we need is a psychological one: a new mindset.

At first, this might require clearing your head, scheduling time on a lazy Saturday afternoon, and reflecting on your life and where you are in your journey.

Once you’ve mastered the thinking, it’s something you’ll consider every day.

LET’S START PLANNING

As you start this planning process, you can choose whatever future date you want. You can plan for as many tomorrows as you like. In fact, the more, the merrier!

However, I find it helps to think about years and not months. This is because Me of Tomorrow planning is about building a strategy and changing habits that take time to implement. This is a visualization exercise that helps you to turn dreams into plans.

I find it most helpful to plan longer-term. This time horizon is fun and a major catalyst for change.

If you are in your 20s, make as many plans as your imagination will allow. Although it’s challenging to envision far ahead, that’s all part of the fun.

Older readers should focus on their closer-in tomorrows—the future mes they can envisage.

So, first, think about which horizon you want to plan first. Your choice will depend on many personal factors, such as age, career stage, health, and family.

This tool lets you build as many as you want. You can make some now and then revisit them later. You can store your plans and go back and refresh them as things change. You are in control.
